It is with great sadness that the family of Grimes Reguly announces his passing at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Friday, January 23, 2015.

Born on February 10, 1922, Grimes lived in Fort William all his life.  He was a long time active member of St. Peter’s Church and a long time member of St. Anthony’s Lodge 405 First Catholic Slovak Union.  He was a charter member of the Father Francis Maynard Knights of Columbus Council 15995.

He retired from the Ministry of Transportation (Department of Highways) after 35 years of dedicated service, where he was supervisor of Purchasing and Procurement.  In this position he was responsible for all roads, equipment and airports from the Manitoba border to Sault Ste. Marie and to Hudson’s Bay.

In his retirement he brought comfort and companionship to family and friends in the local hospitals and nursing homes.  Well-liked and respected, Grimes will also be remembered for his charm and his pocketful of chocolates and candies that he was always eager to share.  He looked forward to his regular coffee dates with his friends to exchange “news and views”.  He always had “the pulse” on local politics and business.

Grimes was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Theresa; sister Mary in infancy; brothers John, Reverend Joseph, Peter and George; nephew Tom; and sister-in-law Pauline.  He is survived by his sister-in-law Bernice; nephews John (Alice) and Patrick; nieces Mary (Dennis), Patricia and Teresa (Ashton); niece-in-law Gayle; and numerous grand and great-grand nephews and nieces.

Vigil prayers will be held on Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at 8:00 pm in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church. 700 McIntosh Street.  A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at 1:00 pm in St. Peter’s Church, celebrated by Reverend Terry Sawchuk.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to St. Peter’s Renovation Fund or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.

Emil Reguly will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
