Mrs. Audrey Dalzell, a resident of Roseview Manor, passed away peacefully with family by her side at her residence on Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at the age of 96.

Audrey was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on April 4, 1918 to Howard and Ellen Hanna.  As a young woman she came with her family to Port Arthur and began her nursing studies.

It was during this time that she met Gordon Dalzell and the two were married in 1943 and together raised two children Judy and Bob.  Audrey’s nursing career saw her work at various local hospitals before she took up a teaching role for Nurse’s Aides at the Adult Education Program of Confederation College, the job from which she retired.  Her 30 years of retirement saw herself and Gordon wintering in Florida and traveling extensively until his passing in 1999.

The family would like to thank Dr. Stewart Kennedy, Dr. Chris Lai, Dr. Ross Johnson, the nurses and support staff at Roseview Manor, with special thanks to the staff on her floor Renaissance for the care and compassion shown to Audrey during her time at Roseview.

Audrey will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her daughter Judy Dalzell, son Bob (Eileen) Dalzell, sister Dallas Hancock, grandchildren: Jennifer (Tony Romeo) Whelan, Kimberly (Ted) Code and Joanne (Al Peltola); great grandchildren: Brittany, Megan, Melanie, Aiden, Ella and Sam as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was predeceased by her husband Gordon, brother Bud Hanna and her parents Howard and Ellen Hanna.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 30, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street with Rev. Joyce Hancock presiding.  Following the reception the interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery.  Visitation for friends will be for 1 hour prior to service time.

As expressions of sympathy memorials to the Alzheimer Society of Thunder Bay would be appreciated.  Online condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com.
