Mrs. Mary Irja Sohlman, age 85 years, passed away peacefully in Roseview Manor on Friday, April 24, 2015.

Mary was born in Port Arthur, Ontario on May 22, 1929 to Victor and Jenny Vesterback. She married the love of her life, Tauno Sohlman and they were happily together for 30 years. She graduated from Lakehead University with a Bachelor of Arts and continued her education to become certified with the Ontario College of Teachers. Mary was an Elementary School Teacher until her retirement in 1984. Mary was a devoted Choir member of Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church and she was a passionate volunteer. She belonged to the Wood Carvers Association and was the founding director of Thunder Bay Society of Ballet and Dance.

Mary will be sadly missed by children, Vicki Dalgleish (Adrian) Virginia Williams (Frank) and , grandchildren; Valerie Parete, Tracey Dalgleish (Greg Stewart), Colin Williams, Kaitlynn Williams (Michael Steenburgh), Julianne Williams and Matthew Williams; great grandchildren Aleesia Parete, Tiia Parete, Anderson Stewart and Juliet Steenburgh; brothers Arnold Vesterback (Selma), Ron Vesterback (Diane), sister; Eva Brown and sister-in-law Pauline Vesterback and numerous other relatives.

Mary was predeceased by her loving husband Tauno Sohlman, parents Victor and Jenny Vesterback and brothers Harold and Allan Vesterback

Funeral services for the late Mary Sohlman will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 with family and friends assembling in Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church for Funeral Mass at 10:00 am celebrated by Father. Jerin Louis. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, April 27, 2015 evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Vigil Prayers offered at 8:00 p.m.
