With great sadness in our hearts, we share the passing of Thomas John Blakely “Tom Cat” born in Nipigon on March 21, 1950, the 7th of 9 children. Tom passed away suddenly at home on April 23, 2015 in the arms of his life partner of 34 years, Terry.

Tom is survived by our family; Jason, Christopher and Shannon all of Thunder Bay, their spouses and 4 grandchildren; sisters Aggie and Joyce from Yukon Territory; brothers Mike, Gerry and John from Nipigon; a sister Darlene from Red Rock and their spouses.

Numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Mike and Lucy Blakely; grandparents Shorty and Agnes Blakely; his 1st born son Todd; infant brother William and sister Helen from the Yukon.

Tom began his working career in road construction with his dad and brothers joining the Local 793 Operators Union in 1972. Tom took the time to consider the small things. He saw beauty in nature and had a great respect for it all.

He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. His creative touch and generosity were an inspiration to many.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish, are asked to make a donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

We the family, at this time, wish to thank all the health professionals who worked so hard to take care of Tom.

Cremation has taken place in accordance with Tom’s wishes. Visitation will be held Friday, May 1, 2015 at Jenkens Funeral Home for family and close friends from 2:30 – 5 p.m. Interment will take place Thursday, May 7, 2015 at 2:35 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens with a sweet grass ceremony being performed by Tony DePerry.
