Mary (Marie) Caroline Jeza – nee: Martinuzzi

Mom left us peacefully to be with her heavenly family on May 21, 2015 after a lengthy illness.  She was born in Fort William, ON on March 2, 1930 to Marino and Anna (Schincariol) Martinuzzi.

Mary attended St. Martin’s school and one year at the Business School.  She worked at many office jobs including the Income Tax Office and was the Office Manager for the Experimental Agricultural Farm until her retirement in 1981.

In her younger years Mary also helped out at her brothers’ restaurant, The Venice Grill, where she met a young immigrant from Czechoslovakia, our Dad, Milan Jeza.

They married on November 15, 1952.  Together they had three children, Anna Marie, John and Terry. Mary volunteered many years for the MS Society to raise funds and awareness for the disease that afflicted her oldest daughter Anna Marie.

Mom joined the technology age when she was 70, with her first computer.  With her failing eyesight she gave up the computer, and at the age of 80, sold her big Buick and gave up her license.  Mary lived independently until she was 83, when she entered Lakehead Manor.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, parents-in-law, her husband Milan, daughter Anna Marie, son-in-law Stephen Hrymnak, brothers, John and his wife Wanda, Aldo and his wife Vicky, Mario.  Nephews Raymond Martinuzzi and Marty Maritnuzzi, and nieces Diana Vaillant and Patricia Goodchild. Mary is survived by her son John (Janet) and daughter Terry (Derric) Tempelman.

Grandchildren Alissa (Rob, Emma, Ruth, Jude) Freeman, Greg (Suzanne, Saphron, Corrina, Olivia) Hanlon, Tom Jeza, Shawn (Kelly, Kianna, Myla) Templeman, Ryan Tempelman, Nikki Templeman, Scott (Andrea, Heidi) McComb.  Sister Rose (Hank) Kaucharik, sister-in-law Patti Martinuzzi, Aunt Luisa Schincariol and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Mom will be sadly misssed by her “adopted daughter” Ann Marie (Bruce) Bailey and by Hazel, Mom’s “roomie” as they spent many hours enjoying each others company and laughing at times gone by. Our family would like to thank the staff at Lakehead Manor for their excellent care and compassion.

A big thank you to Dr. Joanes and the team of Ambulatory Care at the TBRHSC and to Dr. Ross Johnson of Lakehead Manor.  Funeral Mass will be held on, Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 12:10pm St. Agnes Church, with Rev. James Panikulam officiating.

Interment will follow at a later date. Visitation will be held on, Tuesday evening, from 7:00pm to 9:00pm in The Blake Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers donations to the local MS Society, Thunder Bay Chapter, 703-B Victoria Ave. or the local CNIB 229 Camelot St. would be greatly appreciated.

Marie Jeza will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
