Mrs. Dora Theresa Littlefield: It is with heavy hearts the family of Dora Theresa Littlefield (Caruso) announce her passing on July 21st at her residence in Pioneer Ridge. Dora was an incredible lady whose strong faith and devotion to her family were proven in her 96 years.

Dora Caruso was born in Fort William on March 23, 1919 to Madeline and Nicholas Caruso, growing up in a family of 9 children. As a young girl, Dora was very active in sports, any sports, be it baseball, hockey, broom-ball, golf, etc. She played them all. Her favorite teams were the Leafs and the Blue Jays and of course, any team her grandchildren played on.

Dora had a few jobs in her lifetime, from Olgilvies, Can Car, the bookkeeper at May & Cummings Gas Station but by far her longest and most favorite was in the office at the Fort William Gardens. There she made many life-long, close friends and even met some famous people along the way.

Halfway through her career at the FW Gardens this spirited, fun-loving girl captured the heart of Frank Littlefield Sr. and was soon happily married and welcoming the pride and joy of their lives, sons Frankie and Gary. Always the sports woman, she had her sons into baseball and hockey often standing on the highest snow bank or sitting in the bleachers, cheering for all. Mom had a business sense about her and encouraged her boys  to peruse their own businesses which they both did with her support.

In retirement Dora and Frank finally had the opportunity to do some traveling to many warm places in the winter.

What brought her the most enjoyment, though, were her five grandchildren who helped (didn't take much!) keep Dora young at heart. She was the nana that every child wanted, from her games, to baking, to the pure fun and silliness that were always guaranteed when she was often the babysitter.  And she continued to love the sports, watching the kids locally and often times traveling with Frank on road trips to watch the kids play hockey or dance.

Dora had a very strong faith and it was very important in her life to be active at St. Dominic's church and the Catholic Woman's League.

Dora will be missed by so many and is survived by her husband, Frank Sr., her two boys, Frank (Kathy) and Gary (Tricia), and her grandchildren, Shalyn, Brennan, Evan, Nick, and Tessa. She is also survived by her sister-in laws Bonnie (Hank) Caruso and Daphne (Dominic) Caruso as well as many nieces and nephews who were all very special to her.

Predeceased by her parents Nick & Madeline, brothers Marino,,Dominic, Hank, Tony & John, sisters Antoinette Hallada, Edith Becotte & Anne Mallon, sister-in-laws Millie (John) Caruso, Jean (Tony) Caruso and brother-in-laws Judd Hallada, Roy Becotte and Jack Mallon.

Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Dominic's Church.  Interment at a later date. Visitation will be held at the Blake Funeral Chapel on Monday July 27th from 5-7 p.m.   In honour of Mom's love of children, if friends so desire, donations may be made to The George Jeffrey Children's Foundation.  We would also like to thank the staff at Pioneer Ridge for looking after mom so well.
