Mary Ronchi passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus and Dad on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at the age of 89. 

Born in the East End of Fort William, Mom attended St. Peter’s Elementary School and Selkirk High School and then began her career at Bole’s Feeds.

She was then employed at Western Engineering and the Gleeson Clinic. For many years Mom was involved in the Elections as an enumerator and Poll Official.

Mom donated time to the PTA, the Elks Lodge and, side by side with Dad, cooked for weddings and many other events. As a member of the Royal Purple, with Dad, Mom participated in the Beach Comber’s Club going on many excursions; travelled with friends to Florida, Texas, Hawaii and Mexico. 

Mom was very creative and talented. Her petit point, needle point, knitting, crocheting and hat projects were beautiful works of art. She made ceramics, sewed clothes and costumes for us and refinished and upholstered furniture. Her capable hands tended vegetable and flower gardens, cooked, baked and pickled. Mom was a member of St. Patrick’s Cathedral and her faith was very important to her. As a long time member of the CWL , she received her 25 year pin in December 2014.

Mom leaves to mourn her loving children Marlene Bivins and David Ronchi, her grandchildren Johnathan (Erin) and Thayna Bivins; great grand-daughter Winter Boyer-Bivins, Puss-Puss her four legged granddaughter who gave her hours of entertainment and many nieces and nephews. 

Mary was predeceased by her husband and best friend John (January 31, 1998), her parents John and Dokia, parents-in-law Gaetano and Maria Ronchi, sister Anne Asseff (Chris), brother William (Emily and Anne) Michael (Ella) and Peter (Dorothy), nephews Christo Asseff and Dennis Mikeluk and those special friends she cherished.  A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Monsignor P.M. Stilla V. G. officiating. Visitation will be at Blake Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. with prayers at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary Ronchi’s memory to the Arthritis Society, Alzheimer’s Society, Canadian Liver Foundation, St. Joseph’s Foundation-Manor House or a charity of your choice. Mom we will always cherish your bright eyes and big smile.

Mary Ronchi will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
