Mr. Paul Zloty passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Tuesday, August 25, 2015.

Paul was born March 3, 1931 on the family farm near Dominion City Manitoba. He attended Dominion Consolidated School. At an early age Paul discovered that academics were not for him and chose to help his father run the family farm.

It was here that Paul developed a fascination for all things mechanical and this passion carried on for his entire life seeking a more prosperous life, Paul's family moved to Port Arthur in 1952.

It was here that Paul found employment in the forestry industry working alongside family and friends. This is also where Paul met his wife Loretta Rawluk, they married in June 1958. Paul and Loretta relocated to Marathon where Paul was employed at the James River Mill in the Woodlands division, Paul worked there 30 years and retired in 1988. Upon retirement Paul and Loretta returned to Thunder Bay where they kept busy at a variety of part-time jobs and enjoying winter vacations in warmer climates. Paul also pursued a love for electronics, particularly in music and film.

In the later years Paul was able to pursue his true passion- music. Paul enjoyed many good times at the Epiphany and Kakabeka Church, Chippewa, and Castelegreen playing one of his many harmonicas. Paul played by ear and could play almost any tune. Paul was lucky enough to meet the second love of his life, Gladys.

They could be found almost any night of the week at one of the many "jam sessions" in Thunder Bay. They had a close circle of friends that they jammed with and spent many special occasions with this group and Gladys's family over the last several years. Paul had a great sense of humor and love of life anyone that met Paul knew that he was a kind gentleman with a heart of gold. Even over the last few months Paul never complained and was always ready with a smile for those around him.

Paul is survived by his Partner Gladys, sister Annie Maslen, Niece Darlene(Lee Campbell) sister in law Norma Zloty of Calgary, nephew Dr. David Zloty(Christine) of Vancouver BC, Peter Zloty Jr. (Susann) nephew of Calgary, Carla(Larry) Shonosky niece, Cathy (Robert) Step daughter Sarah (Scott) Step Granddaughter, Joshua(Jillian) Step Grandson, Glen(Cheryl) Step Son, Ben, Oliver, Luke and Calvin (Step grandchildren) and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins also survive.


Paul is predeceased by parents Lena and Michael, Brother Peter, wife Loretta, brother in law Bert Maslen and Maurice and Helene wife Rawluk and brother-in-law Don Rawluk of World War II (France).


Visitation will be held at Jenkens Funeral Home 226 South Syndicate Avenue Thunder Bay Monday August 31, 2015 at 11 am-12pm with internment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens 3200 Oliver Road. Donations can be made to the Victorian Order of Nurses, the Northern Cancer Fund or charity of your choice.
