Our son, father, brother, and Nonno John Frank Pretto passed away peacefully at age 61 with his family by his side on Friday September 25 at St. Joseph's Care Group.

John grew up in Westfort where he attended St. Anne's Elementary School. He then moved on to become a graduate of Westgate High School where he excelled at all sports that he participated in.

It was football that he enjoyed the most and went on to play at Mount Allison University in New Brunswick. Upon returning home, he spent numerous years traveling and working odd jobs before he started his career at the City of Thunder Bay.

Johnny was a longstanding member of the DaVinci Center as well as the M.S. Society. Among all of his accomplishments and achievements, one of John's proudest moments was becoming a Nonno and having the chance to meet his grandson Gabriel John to which he will forever be his guardian angel.

John is survived by his parents Irma and Severino, his sister Linda and family, brother Dario and family, and his four children Jon-Paul, Luke, Chiara, Julianne and their families, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins across Canada and Italy. John is predeceased by his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015, when family and friends will gather for funeral mass at 10:00am, at St. Agnes Church celebrated by Rev. James Panikulam.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.

John Pretto will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2016.
