Mrs. Jeannie Holder, a resident of Hurkett, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2015 after a long, but courageous battle with cancer, with family by her side.

Born in Fort William in 1952 to Joe and Gladys Nichols, Jeannie grew up on the family farm in Nipigon, married in 1970, and moved to Hurkett to raise a family, work, and play.  Jeannie began driving school bus on her 21st birthday and drove continuously for the next 40 years.  In later years, she simultaneously took on an almost full-time bookkeeping career and relished the new challenge.

Jeannie will be sadly missed by her husband Albert, children Carey (Linda) and Kevin (Kerri), granddaughter Chloe, brothers Jim (Geneva), Conward (Maureen), Donald, Ronald (Ana), Lonnie (Viola), and sister-in-law Wilma (Don), brother-in-law Lawrence, sister-in-law Terri and numerous nieces, nephews, and her pet pink turtles and hummingbirds.

Jeannie was predeceased by her parents Joe and Gladys, sister Jo-Ann, and brother Ricky.

Funeral services will be held at Harbourview Funeral Centre in Thunder Bay on Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 11 a.m.

For those wishing to honour Jeannie’s memory, donations to Regional Cancer Clinic Northwest, a program of Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, can be made in lieu of flowers.
