It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Gerry on Monday, September 28 in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hospice Unit. Gerry’s brother Pat, sister-in-law Sandee and dear friend Elaine Dudar were by his side.

Gerry was born on July 26, 1944, to Rose and Art Bourgeois and spent his life in Thunder Bay. Gerry was the superintendent of Richardson Elevator prior to his retirement in 2002.

Gerry spent his retirement golfing, wintering in Florida, and enjoying his many friends. Diagnosed with cancer in March, he fought hard to stay with us.

Gerry is survived by his two daughters, Siovone and Marissa, two grandsons, Orion and Elijah, and the mother of his children, Lucy, all of Ottawa. His only brother Pat (Sandee), nephew Spencer (Jennifer), of Thunder Bay, and niece Tiffany Bourgeois, of Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Art Bourgeois.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Simpson, Dr. Migay, Hospice Nurses, CCAC, and Bayshore. Also a special thanks and appreciation to Gerry’s dear friends, Dave and Joann St. Germain, and Dave and Elaine Dudar for always being there.

Cremation has taken place, and a come and go reception will be held on the evening of Thursday, October 1, 2015, for family and friends from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 N. Cumberland St.

If anyone so desires, in lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
