With comfort knowing that she is closer to our Lord Jesus Christ, the family announces the passing of Antonietta Fiorito on November 25, 2015 with family by her side at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

Antonietta was born November 24, 1919 in Ripabottoni, Campobasso, Italy.  In 1956 she immigrated to Canada with her children: Maria, Anna and Giosino and father-in-law Giuseppe to join her husband Antonio.  They settled in Sapawe, Ontario, until the tragic and accidental death of her son Giosino in January 1966.  She and her husband Antonio moved to Port Arthur to be close to their daughter Maria and son-in-law Vittorio.  Antonietta lived in her own home until 2010 when she moved in with Maria and Vittorio.

Antonietta’s Catholic faith was very important to her as is evident by her involvement in; St. Anthony’s Italian Choir, St. Anthony’s Senior Group, St. Anthony’s CWL, and the Ladies of the Italian Hall.  She was a hardworking, strong woman who was employed at Tee-Kays and the Scandinavian Home.  She enjoyed spending time with family, working outdoors, gardening, playing BINGO, knitting and crocheting, especially for her grand and great-grandchildren.

Antonietta is predeceased by her husband Antonio (1983), her son Giosino (1966), her parents Francesco and Filomena Panunto, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by her daughters; Maria (Vittorio) Cacciatore and Anna (Giuseppe) Iorio from Montreal; grandchildren Gino (Beatrice), Alyssa and Mitchell; Tina (Kenji), Vittoria Maria, Silvana, Nikolas and Devon; Romina (John), Mary, Teresa, John Paul and Elizabeth, Gino, and Tony (Cathy) Iorio.

We wish to express our deepest appreciation for her caregiving team: Dr. Ek, Dr. Abdulrehman, Dr. Stallwood, and nurses: Alyssa, Katrina, Carol and Lucy; Melissa from CCAC, Wesway and Saint Elizabeth.
