It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dear Mother, Nana, Great-Nana Evelyn Haukland (nee Wakefield) on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Evelyn was born in England on June 3, 1921. She came to Canada in 1945 as a war bride, arriving at Pier 21.

She was predeceased by her first husband Frank (Chummy) Frobel and her second husband Louis Haukland, and her siblings Titch, Nellie, Louis and Patricia.

She will always be remembered by her daughter Bernice (Bob) McCredie, grandchildren Graham and Brenda, great grandchildren Kirk, Brock and Ryan.

Evelyn is also survived by and will be sadly missed by her sister Stella and brother-in-law Harry Shinton of Lindsay, sister-in-law Dolly Wakefield in England and numerous nieces and nephews in both Canada and England. She will be remembered by Max Maybroda, Paul Maybroda, Dawn Krawczuk and family and by her forever friend Phyllis Stokaluk.

Evelyn will be deeply missed by her family in Ottawa, brother-in-law John Frobel, very special niece Exida (Bob) Mahoney, great nieces Cindy-Lee, Jamie and Caitlin.

A heartfelt thanks to the Doctors and Nurses at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for their wonderful care, giving her gentle last days, and to Abby Caputo for her loving care and thoughtfulness.

Funeral services for the late Mrs. Evelyn Haukland will be held on Tuesday, May17, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Pastor Dave Knudson officiating. Private family interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
