Mr. Gregorio Foglia age 90 years, former resident of Leith Street of Thunder Bay passed away on Wednesday May 25, 2016 at Hogarth Riverview Manor.

He was born in Visciano Naples, Italy on March 13, 1926, married his wife Teresa Iannicelli in 1944, and moved to Canada in 1956. He worked for CPR and then joined the city of Thunder Bay Public Works and retired after 24 years in 1991.

He was a member of CUPE local 87; St. Patrick’s Cathedral, and a former member of DaVinci Centre. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, spending time in his garden and making his own wine.

He also enjoyed talking to people and spending time with his friends in Victoriaville and Intercity. He is survived by his children Angelo (Sandy), Maria Napolitano.

Also survived are his sisters Mariangela Montella,  Brigida Desena, and Antonietta (Felice) Miele. Grandchildren Greg (Christine) Foglia, Anthony Napolitano, PhilipSoviero, Anna Maria Laasko (Shawn), and Joseph Napolitano. Great grandchildren Alyssa, Nicholas and Christopher Foglia and Levi Laasko and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.

He was predeceased by his wife Teresa, parents Rubina and Pasquale, daughter Rubina and son-in-law Giuseppe Napolitano, brothers Angelo, Carmine, Vittorio and sisters Maria and Giuseppina, brother-in-law Carmine Iannicelli. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 31 2016 when friends and family will gather for funeral mass at 2:00 pm in St. Patrick’s Cathedral celebrated by Rev. Msgr. P.M. Stilla V.G. 

Private entombment will follow in Our Lady of Charity Mausoleum. Vigil prayers will  be offered on Monday May 30 2016 at 7:00 pm in the Blake Funeral Chapel. If friends desire memorials to St. Patrick’s Cathedral or the Alzheimers Society, would be appreciated.     

Gregorio Foglia will be remembered in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove.  Annual dedication service Sunday, June 11, 2017.
