Mr. Michael James O'Shaughnessy, age 70 years, a resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully in St. Joseph’s Hospital on June 25th, 2016 with family by his side.

Mike was born and raised in Bancroft, Ontario and was the third of five children. He raised his family in Manitouwadge, Ontario where he was a millwright at Geco Mine.  Mike was an avid sportsman with a love for skiing and baseball.

He was a dedicated volunteer, coaching ringette, hockey, ladies and kids baseball. As well, Mike was a key volunteer for Kiwissa Ski Club over several decades. Upon retirement, Mike and Linda moved to Thunder Bay. While in Thunder Bay, he continued to be active by curling, downhill skiing and golfing.

Mike was extremely social and enjoyed chatting and storytelling with anyone who crossed his path.

Mike was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He cherished his grandchildren and spent a lot of time with them as youngsters. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved to share their accomplishments with others.

Mike will be sadly missed by his wife Linda, his children, Christine, Mick (Brenda); grandchildren, Kevin (Rikki), Caitlyn (Mikko), Denon, Keegan (Kaylee) and great grandchildren Coleman and Reed.

He is also survived by his sisters, Peggy (Boyd), Susan (Bruce) and sisters-in-law Marg and Joanne, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mike was predeceased by his parents Gerald and Jeanne O'Shaughnessy, brothers Jack and Pat and son-in-law Toby Start.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by The Rev’d Canon Ed Swayze of St. Stephen the Martyr Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, donations may be made in Mike's memory to PRO Kids or the charity of your choice.
