Gordon Gerrard

Mr. Gordon Harold Gerrard, age 93 years, resident of Brandon, Manitoba and former resident of Maplecrest Towers in Thunder Bay passed away in Brandon on November 25, 2009. Gordon was born in London, Ontario where he lived until 1940 until he joined the Royal Canadian Air Force serving from 1942 until 1946. After the war he returned to London for a year. Gordon worked for the TD bank and his position gave him cause to move several times during his career. After leaving London he moved to Fort William in 1947 and moved again to London in 1954, on to Toronto in 1957 and then to Winnipeg in 1971. He retired in 1979 and moved to Victoria. From there he moved back to Thunder Bay in 1981. He held various management positions at the TD Bank. Gordon married Yvonne Barclay on October 3, 1950 in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and they celebrated their 59th anniversary in October 2009. Gordon belonged to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and was also a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. Gordon is survived by his wife Yvonne, children Suzanne (Marnie) Tsia of Courtenay, British Columbia; Patricia (Terry) Gryschuk of Brandon, Manitoba; grandchildren Shamus Pridy, Dustin and Laurin Gryschuk. Nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive. He was predeceased by his parents, four brothers Alec, Jim, Bill and Laurie; four sisters Margaret and Chris Gerrard, Barbara Hartwell and Lenore Lee. Cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held on Friday, January 15, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bert Vancook officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View cemetery.

A tree will be planted in memory of Gordon Gerrard in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 27, 2010.
