Henny Ypma

It is with deep sorrow that the family of Henny Ypma announces her passing on Sunday, January 17th, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. Henny was born in De Krim, The Netherlands, on June 1, 1939, daughter of Herman and Aaltje Brink. She immigrated to Port Arthur, Ontario, as a teenager with her family in 1953.

Henny was employed at the Imperial Bank of Commerce for eight years, until she started to raise her family. She cherished being a mother to her three children, and home life was of upmost importance to her. She treasured the relationships with her extended family. Henny is remembered for her compassionate nature, and her creative spirit. In later years she was employed as a homemaker with the Red Cross and Com Care. She was a longstanding member of Bethlehem Christian Reformed Church. Despite the challenges in her life, her faith in her Redeemer sustained her.

She is survived by her daughter Dawn Minnesma (Mark Deweese), grandchildren Carla and Mark, all of Grand Rapids,MI; her son Jonathon (Josie); and grandchild Jonathan Twance; four sisters: Hilda Brink of St. Catharines ON, Alice VanderWees, Jane (Ray) Postuma of Winnipeg MB, Giekka (Ton) Rijsmus of Barendrecht, The Netherlands; three brothers, Anton (Marian) Brink of London ON, Henry (Kathy) Brink of Burlington ON, John (Linda) Brink and sister-in-law Irene Brink, St. Albert AB and brother-in-law Martin Vandenbos, numerous nieces and nephews and the Ypma family.

Henny was predeceased by her son Rodney (1995), brother Bud Brink (1998), sister Doreen Vandenbos (2005), brother-in-law Keith VanderWees (1994) and her twin sister in infancy and her parents.

A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, January 20th at 1:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Christian Reformed Church, 75 Walkover Street, officiated by Pastor Al Postma. A private interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Henny`s memory to the Alzheimer Society.

Henny will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
