Ms. Susan Gail Collins, age 52 years, a lifelong resident of Thunder Bay, passed away peacefully with family by her side in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hospice Unit on Monday, January 18, 2010.

Susan was educated in local schools and from infancy, she had a passion for fine arts and handcrafts. She enjoyed country living, and camping, and loved all God’s creatures, especially kitties. She was very active in the Mental Health community and was very contented with her life.

Susan Gail will be sadly missed by her adoring son, Steve Hawkins; her mom, Ruth Collins, on whom she had relied for many years; and her elder sister Mary Elizabeth. Also surviving are aunts; uncles; and numerous cousins with fond memories of Susan Gail. She will be particularly missed by her very good friend, Diane Hicks. Susan Gail was predeceased by her doting father, Richard John Collins. She grieved the loss of her great grandmother and both pair of grandparents. Sue had also mourned aunts, uncles, and cousins who had predeceased her.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 21st, in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, officiated by Archdeacon Andrew Hoskin of St. Thomas Anglican Church. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the time of Service. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Sue’s memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Canadian Mental Health Association, or to the Ontario Society of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
