Rose Anne Paxton

Posted

It is with great sadness that the family of Rose Anne Paxton (nee Adams) announce her passing on February 7, 2010 at 10:50PM at Bethammi surrounded by her family and all their love.
Rose was born in Port Arthur on March 19, 1921, the second eldest child of Fred and Bessie Adams. At the very young age of 14 yrs. Rose assumed the role of nurturer to her 3 siblings, following the tragic death of her mother. This was a very sad time for the family as they also mourned the loss of their newborn sister, Elizabeth. As time went on, a certain young man came into her life and she and John (Jack) Paxton married Dec. 20, 1941 and together they raised their 7 children. Rose was the quiet strength of her family, always ready to set aside her needs for those of her family and mother-in-law, Lily, whom they had welcomed into their home. Many times Rose would work into the night, preparing the family for a weekend of fishing at the mouth of the Kashabowie River and tenting on its shores.
Rose was a devoted wife, mother, grandma and great grandma who enjoyed camping, fishing, and bowling, but mostly spending time with her ever-growing family.
She was predeceased by her parents, 4 siblings: Elizabeth Adams, Shirley Adams, Margaret Seaman, Gordon Adams; her son-in-law Neil Johnston, and her husband Jack Paxton in 1998. Also predeceased by her loving bingo dog Trixie Feb 6, 2010.
She will be greatly missed by her children: Dianne Johnston, Charles (Judy); Carolyn Eger(Robert), Red Deer, Alb.; Donna Johnstone (Brian); Robert Paxton(Deborha); Judy Bryson(Jim) Terrace Bay; Cindy Paxton: Eleven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place and burial of ashes will be at a later date. A celebration of Rose’s life will be held at Oliver Road Rec. upstairs on Thursday February 11, 2010 @ 7:30 - 9:30p.m. and tribute to Rose's life at 8:00pm.

If friends desire, donations in memory of Rose can be made to the Alzheimer Society, to support families and their loved ones suffering from this devastating disease.

We would like to say a special thank you to the staff of Bethammi 3rd floor for their care and understanding of mom.

Arrangements in care of the Sargent & Son Funeral Directors, 21 N. Court Street.
