"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade – kept in heaven for you...." 1 Peter 1:3-4

Mrs. Catherine Wallick (Auntie Kay), age 66 years, passed away peacefully in her home and went to be with the Lord, on Saturday, February 6, 2010. Born on September 18, 1943 in Fort William, Kay lived all her life in Thunder Bay. She received her Hairstylist-Hairdresser certificate on June 16, 1961. She started her 47 year career at Nu Fashion, worked 34 years at the Continental Hair Salon and retired at the end of December 2008 from the Bon Ton Hairstyling. She enjoyed her job very much and was appreciated by her customers for her kindness and compassion especially to the elderly. She married her loving husband Stan Wallick on September 22, 1961. They shared 33 happy years together, which included many days in the outdoors of Northern Ontario, camping, fishing and hunting. After her husband passed away in December of 1994 she remained an independent widow and took on all household duties and made her family proud. She was a devoted member of the Holy Family Parish and used her gift of a friendly personality regularly as a greeter. She will be remembered by many for her joyful, caring and giving spirit. Auntie Kay was like a loving mother and grandmother to her family. She will be dearly missed by her nephew Peter and wife Angela and their daughters Adena, Bethany, Faryn and Chloe; niece Monica; brother Ron Harrison and sister-in-law Agnes; and many other family members and friends. Kay was predeceased by her parents Michael and Edna Harrison, husband Stanley Wallick, sister Penny Gysen and brother-in-law Don Gysen. Visitation for family and friends will be held in the Blake Funeral Chapel on Wednesday evening from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. with Vigil Prayers at 7:00 p.m. A mass celebrating Kay’s life will be held on Thursday, February 11, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. in the Holy Family Church celebrated by Rev. Antoni Fujarczuk. After a luncheon at the parish, interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Christian School or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

A tree will be planted in memory of Catherine Wallick in the Blake Funeral Chapel Memorial Grove. Annual dedication service Sunday, June 12, 2011.
