It is with great sadness that our family bids farewell to Antonio, who died on March 10, 2010 at the age of 89 years after an illness brought on by a stroke.

Antonio was a veteran of Word War II who immigrated to Canada in 1957. He was an extremely hard worker who paved the way for his family and many relatives and friends whom he sponsored to Canada. Employment included the forestry industry, construction and a career with Canadian National Railways. He was a member of the Italian Cultural Centre for the past 40 years, a devoted parishioner at St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Seniors' Club; and a member of the 55+ Club. Antonio’s home was renowned for its hospitality and clever inventions which were the work of his own hands. He will be remembered for his sharp wit, bocce ball, briscola (won several championship trophies for this), love of dancing, accordion playing, and of course his passion for gardening. His outgoing personality made him a friend to many by whom he will be lovingly remembered.

Loving husband of 62 years to Filomena Cupelli, cherished father of Lisa (Lou), Santo (late wife Brenda), Joe (Irma – Krista, Tyler & Landon), Frank (Kim), Mario (Rosaria), Mirella (Josh), loving grandfather to Michelle (Jorge), Andrea, David, Marco, Adam, Samuel, Tara (Robert – Miranda, William, & Rosalind), Benjamin, Mitchell and Kaitlin. Beloved brother of Emilio, Paulo, and John (predeceased by his sisters Maria, Carmela, Ida, and his brothers Domenico and Francesco). Lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews in Canada, United States, and Italy.

Funeral services for the late Mr. Antonio Cupelli will be held on Monday March 15, 2010 with family and friends gathering in St. Anthony's R.C. Church for Funeral Mass at 9:30 am celebrated by Fr. Maurizio Maifredi. Entombment to follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation for friends will be after 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 14, 2010 in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley St. at Algoma, with the Vigil offered at 7:00 pm.
