Mrs. Anna Szafranski, age 88 years, passed away peacefully with family by her side, in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Hospice Unit, on Monday March 22, 2010.
Born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1922, she later came to Canada in 1951 settling in the area. Anna eventually took a position in the Housekeeping Department of the Port Arthur General Hospital where she remained until retirement in 1987. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, cooking, and having coffee with her friends at Intercity Mall. However, her grandchildren held a special place in her heart and she truly enjoyed being "Baba".
Anna will be lovingly remembered by her children: Tamara Presenger, Stan (Lorna), Rudy (Sharon), Donna (John) Romu and Joey (Cheryl); grandchildren: Shawn, Tanya (Brent), Jason, Dina, Cassandra (Ghislain), Doug (Dianne), Johnathon (Tracy) and Shannon; great grandchildren: Calista, Aaron, Gregory, Ryelee, Sayshell, Leah, John Thomas Perry, Logan, and Brandon as well as someone very special to her heart, Bob Baillie. She was predeceased by her husband Stanislaw in 1996, as well as her parents and siblings.
Funeral Services for the late Anna Szafranski will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 25th, 2010 in the Chapel of Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, presided by Father Ireneusz Stadler of St. Mary’s Our Lady Queen of Poland Catholic Church. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the Service. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Anna’s memory to St. Joseph’s Foundation – Hospice Unit.
