Mrs. Celia Alice King, a resident of Jasper Place passed away in the T.B.R.H.S.C. on Friday, April 30, 2010 at the age of 98 years. Celia was born in Birmingham, England on September 12, 1911 to Frederick and Alice Mills and immigrated to Canada at three months of age to Neepewa MB. She lived on the CN rail line at Hallboro MB with her family until going to work. Celia went to Winnipeg to work at the Eaton's Catalogue Dept. assembling the catalogue. On one of her vacation's to the Port Arthur to family friends, Percy and Beatrice Manning, at their cottage at Loon Lake she met the love of her life, Arnold King. They were married on July 24, 1935 at Kelwood MB, at that time she came to Port Arthur to 751 Red River Rd as a bride and remained there until May 2000. She then moved to Jasper Place due to poor health. She was a member of St Michael and All Angel's Anglican Church from the time she arrived in Port Arthur. From 1962 to 1976 she and Arnold operated King's Motel in Thunder Bay where they made many friends. Celia enjoyed baking; her butter tarts were absolutely delicious. She was always so proud that her tarts would be pre-sold for the St Michael's and All Angel's Tea. She also enjoyed knitting Kory wool socks for all the children. For many years she enjoyed wintering in Clearwater Florida with Arnold. Celia's best times were at her "cottage" at Amethyst Beach. Her greatest love was for her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her brother Stanley and sister-in-law Connie Mills of Almonte, Ontario, daughter Irene and son- in-law Paul Cava, grandson Michael Cava and wife Heidi of Cambridge, Minnesota, granddaughter Annabel McKinlay and her husband Barry of Iroquois Falls, great grandchildren Brandon and Megan McKinlay, sister-in-law Jessie Mills of Dauphin, Manitoba, her deceased son Howard's wife Shirley King, granddaughter Sherry Lee King as well as by numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was predeceased by her husband Arnold, son Howard, granddaughter Angela Cava, sister Lillian LeBoutillier of Hallboro, MB and brother Fred Mills of Dauphin, MB. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sargent & Son Funeral Chapel, 21 N. Court Street, with Rev. Peter Smyth of St. Michael & All Angels Anglican Church presiding. Interment to follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visitation for friends will be for 1 hour prior to service time.
