LETTER: Hearing taking too long

By Nicole Miller

To the editor:

What a joke. Why is it taking so long for Sgt. Jim Mauro's case to be heard and done with? As a taxpayer I am very concerned as to why we are paying this officer his salary for two years while we wait for his day in court. Now if this was a regular Joe I am sure this would already be taken care of.

Besides how many times does a person get to be on suspension?

"get to be on suspension"
you make it sound like being on suspension is a dream? would you like to have your name continually splashed in the media and your case and allegations twisted continually? i am sure everyone would like this case to be over. I can not imagine being treated so publicly poorly by your employer. it must take a toll on your health and your family. if this would have been dealt with by the employer in a fair way, the taxpayers would not be burdened

Most people who would get "suspended with pay" would consider it a holiday.
After two years it would be like retirement at 100% of your salary.

I sure wish I could get paid for two years for just sitting around thinking up ways to keep stalling. I believe any normal working person would be on the unemployment line by now. Instead of paid leave why not let them apply for UI until their case is solved. Then maybe they would see what the rest of us have to put up with.
