LETTER: Justice should be an eye for an eye

By Mary Smith
Brake Repairs! Front Ends! Mufflers! Shocks! Not just mufflers - MINUTE MUFFLER, 677 Memorial Avenue. Open Monday-Saturday. Email: tminutemuffler@shaw.caClick here for details.

To the editor:

How sad is it that in this day and age you can kill someone with your bare hands and their life is only worth six-and-half years.

The young lady who was killed, Patricia Sturgeon, also had a child. How do you think they're going to feel when they grow up knowing that the two people who murdered their mother are walking the streets free? How would you feel if this was your loved one? You should get life for a life.

Mary Smith,
Thunder Bay

I think most organized crime works that way - the mafia for sure. Yup, that is major intelligent advice and sounds like the right approach to ensure a civilized society.

(sarcasm for those of you not able to pick it up)

I agree Mary. What ever happened to life with out parole. It use to be that life was a 25 year sentence. The justice system is afraid to step on anybodies, ethnicity, religion or culture so they give these lame sentences.
The only way to deter crime is to make the punishment painful and memorable.
