To the editor:

It's too bad that the man who threw the chocolate milk on the pro-life caravan group couldn't see and sympathize with a group trying to save babies lives from a cruel death as depicted in the graphic pictures. What's that saying and how true it is "there are none so blind as those who will not see."

Fetuses, not babies. And here is a saying to counter the one you quoted:

"There are none so empty as those who are full of themselves."

Definition of FETUS

: an unborn or unhatched vertebrate especially after attaining the basic structural plan of its kind; specifically : a developing human from usually two months after conception to birth—compare embryo

stugots says:
Fetus is Latin for "offspring" or "young." So scientifically speaking, terms like embryo, fetus, toddler, adolescent really just refer to different stages of development. But there weren't any scientists on the Supreme Court back in 1988.

There, I fixed your letter.

Throwing chocolate milk may have been an inappropriate response to this situation, but no more so than showing pictures of dead FETUSES (not dead babies, get your terminology correct) in public.

Before someone tries to use the line that if the images are that horrible, maybe we should stop the practise, I would like to point out that just because I think open heart surgery is awesome because it saves like, I don't want to see a bunch of pictures of it.

Pro-Lifers need to start using tactics that aren't the equivalent of a two year old trying to yell the loudest. Using shocking images only shows their desperation and inability to form a proper argument and have an intelligent conversation.

Look up the meaning of fetus in the dictionary.

So what you're saying is people aren't allowed to do anything in public if it might cause business owners in the area to have a hissy fit?

People tend to absorb and recall information better if there are visual aids attached. People don't understand the true honorifics of the holocaust until they see the images, same goes for abortion. Talking about it goes in one ear and out the other. Showing graphic images will stick in people's minds. And if you're all sooooo worried about your children seeing these images, better keep them off the internet and away from today's video games, hypocrites.

I followed one of their trucks while on my way to work in the flood zone. It was a disgusting image to follow on my way to help flood victims.

I have no respect for this organization or their obscene images. Their message went unheard because of how they chose to present it.

I'm wondering if you saw these images? they were not published in the news because of their graphic content.

I agree images help get messages through but there are appropriate images then there is snuff. This group crossed a line publicly displaying these obscene images.

Well, Ms. Connie, I feel your perspective is awfully narrow in scope – the same for which you accuse our local business owner of. You say that you want sympathy for cruel deaths and feel these images willachieve it. I’ve posted numerous times on this topic and will reiterate my view (and echo that of many others). Regardless of what your stance is onabortion, this medium is not socially responsible or acceptable. Your narrow view puts this as a war on abortion, but what about the lives that have been damaged as the result. Our children have been scarred and so have women who have endured miscarriages (which is beyond their control) and are forced to face these images as painful reminders at the hand of your ignorance-these are the people you’ve ticked off/hurt. Is your war worth harming these people? A self-righteous/narrow view like this harms society. I would suggest if you feel so strongly on the matter that you post these images in YOUR town and see what type of response you get!

Have we all forgotten to teach our children the value of life...i to am a pro-life advocate but this is wrong on so many counts...by what right do you have to subject minors to this horror....i don't believe in rape or murder but do i have to display pictures of these crimes to get my point across...i will be making a purchase at this persons business...i think they are way out of line with these images.

Though I agree throwing milk at these people wasn't the answer, I think it's absolutely disgusting the City permitted these people to protest in such a public area. Personally, I am pro-life, but as a mother of a young child do not think it is appropriate to have such vulgar, graphic material paraded around a busy area of the city. We don't let XXXtacy set up shop on the corner of Bay & Algoma, so why are we allowing obscene pictures of aborted fetuses to be shown in a place where many families walk by?

Tim H. says:
You people who cant see anything can you? its not those who display the pictures that are the bad people here.

If you cant handle the picture, perhaps you cant handle the reality of abortion?

If the picture is too harsh for you, then you need to focus on those who created what the image captured.

Going after the people who displayed the truth isnt right.

Do you attack this news site because they report the news, but dont create it?

If you find the picture offensive, then you find abortion offensive. The only difference is some people are willing to face the issue like adults and not like juvenilles by assaulting the messenger.

all because they cant handle the message.

Hiding the picture doesnt make reality go away. Facing it allows you to realize whats right and wrong. If you need to hide from reality, you need to someday learn to face it.

I also prefer to deal in reality. And the reality is this: If you believe you are going about this correctly then you need to face reality. This is not the way to stop abortion. Nor is changing the law. Period. I find it offensive and ultimately sad for society that you have an inability to see beyond your own nose. Facing those pictures doesn't not make me realize what's 'right or wrong'. I only see a bunch of zealots who will stop at nothing to shame, harass and terrorize in order to get what they want.

Know what's REALLY cruel? Forcing a society back into the dark ages (if you had your way) where women would go to great lengths and risk their own lives trying to do this procedure on their own, or having it done in some skeezy "clinic" with a coathanger.

Abortions will happen whether you like it or not. It is not your choice to make for that woman. Preach this crap all you want in your church, where people WANT to learn more about the anti-choice way of life.

This group IS religiously motivated, and is basically the fetus version of PETA - not respected by the rest of the community, radical, inappropriate terrorists.

hardwood floors says:
who are you to say no to abortion for all and deem it unacceptable? such piety, such a golden life you must live to hold such a view, and how kind of the pro-life caravan to go amongst the people flashing their propaganda, judgements and expectations.
reality is that the world is overpopulated, life is expensive, and doing the logical thing is sometimes also the right thing (factor in health, availability to parent/work/finances, and circumstances ex. "surprise", or failed birth control). it happens naturally, and has been induced for millenia - get over it, anti-abortionists.
you want to "save" babies? go feed the poor children worldwide that are starving to death daily and quit pushing for the births of more mouths to feed.

Thats the problem with radicals, they have no respect for anyone who doesn't see it their narrow minded view point. I wonder how the would feel if a large group of people, not just one man, had decided to ride them out of town on or tar and feather them?

Corrine I for one could handle a chocolate milk shower much better than what the Pro Life tossed at me a few years ago.
My husband and I wrote a letter to the local city newspaper stating that abortion should be left up to the woman.
Unfortunately our name was printed with the letter and for a few weeks we were getting calls demanding we write another letter saying we had changed our minds.
A couple calls went farther than that and told us we had better watch our children as the callers knew where we lived and they were going to arrive and kill our children and myself as well.
For 3 months I would not allow my children to leave the apt. without me.
I was told by the police to check the peep hole before I answered the door and if it was a stranger to call them.
My sons were young and had no idea why they were being restricted to being with my husband or I constantly
don't tell me abortion is cruel. People are cruel especially when they scare young children and young parents.

When was the last time a Pro Choice person shot and killed an abortion doctor? When was the last time a Pro Choice protester stood outside an abortion clinic and shouted obscenities and defaming words at a patient? When was the last time a Pro Choice person showed obscene images in public?

They say the medium is the message, and I think in this case the message from these jerks was "this is what we will do to you if do not follow our guidance. We will gut you and kill you just as you have these fetuses."

Even notice that it is only the Pro-Lifers that have the radicals? Kinda makes you wonder..Control is all they are after, control over other peoples' reproductive rights. I say if you are going to go Pro Choice, you should live it and stop eating meat, wearing leather, etc. After all, is just human life sacred, or is all life you hypocrits.

Are these people that want to stand there and whine that abortion is cruel going to pay the bills to take care of these kids when their tossed. Are they going to be there when these kids feel like their Mother hate them, NOT A CHANCE. But they can stand here and tell these Women what they should and shouldn't do if they get pregnant. Why is there all way a handful of people that just can't seem to mind their own business. It's up to these women what they want to do not us.

Big Head says:
These clowns picked a business to stand in front of and make their point. They could of gone to a park, the marina, or just walked down the city streets so every business saw them for a few seconds. But NO NO NO! They camped out right in front of 1 store. As to say this store owner is a fetus killer! Now how would you like it if they did that in front of YOUR HOUSE? Has his wife or family member or friend just lost a child through a miscarriage? You don't know! The police should of done something to move them along and not just stand there. Let them walk around but not picket in front of 1 store. That's just wrong!
