LETTER: Method, not message, led to upset business owner

To the editor,

Go Brian Hamilton!

It’s not the message he was angered about, it was how the abortion message was displayed in front of innocent children that upset him.

That is disgusting. The protestors should be ashamed of themselves and I’m sure Brian is of his actions.

He’s a good person and Thunder Bay is beautiful.?

Filling the heart of our city with smut is disrespectful. The pro-life protestors deserved what they got. He should have poured the rest of the milk on them.

Nikki Holmwood,
Thunder Bay

I agree. The issue at hand which has outraged many isn't of free speech or prolife or choice, its the medium which was used for this demonstration. Its discusting and I find it increadible to beleive there are no legal grounds to curtail obsenities such as this. Mr. Hamilton unfortunately will have to face his concequences for his actions, but I would love have the demonstrators held responsible for their ill behaviour! A peaceful protest doesn't border the line of abuse and I think many feel this is emotionally abusive! There should be regard for public decency and decorum.

The method is legal and acceptable.

The loony leftys couldnt handle it and assaulted women.

Go Hamilton? Yes please. Go to jail.

Legal? Yes. Acceptable? Absolutely not. It was a group using shock tactics to force their propaganda messages onto families wanting nothing to do with them.

Not the message. The medium. Are you intentionally this obtuse?

About the methods:
Legal?? – barely. I’m sure if we looked hard enough, we could find some law that would result in charges that could be applied to these protestors.
Acceptable – more like reprehensible.
The only people that should go to jail are the Cretins who psychologically ASSAULTED my children with their graphically offensive propaganda

The graphic images of innocent children being aborted is upsetting to innocent children. What an oxymoron.

Maybe. But does that make the display ok?

About the methods:
“Legal” – barely. I’m sure if we tried, we could find some charges that could be applied to these protestors. How about 'display of obscenity' in public for starters.
“Acceptable” – more like reprehensible.

"no one can say what might have been if the police were not around but what might be certain that everybody sometimes or another supports demonstrations as long as they dont tahe place in your front or back yard!"

So Tim H would you feel happy if people protested outside your house on city property with such signs? Would you be happy if people followed your kids to school, if you have any, with such signs? What if these people protested outside your kids school, on city property. By all rights and measures, hey it's 100% legal. Imagine all the parents that would have to deal with distraught kids because of it.

But you know what, you don't care, cause hey it was legal.

Nikki comments "He should have poured the rest of the milk on them" Seriously? In a city where we promote anti-bullying, wow! Something sure isn't making sense here.
