Bill C-45 kills jobs

To the editor:

I work for the Canadian Grain Corporation  in Vancouver.

Well, not for much longer.

I am one of the people affected by Bill C-45, and the elimination of inward inspection.

On the west coast all Inspection Assistants and Term Employees are being let go. We are already seeing problems with ships not being loaded on time. This is because the Port’s Clearance Association was disbanded when the Wheat Board disappeared.

The board looked after a lot of functions surrounding timing of ships, movement of grain, etc.

The elimination of inwards inspection will not be apparent right away, but lower quality will show up. Three-hundred people will be elminated at the CGC across Canada.
