LETTER: Cyclotron meetings

To the editor:

As many in the community are aware the Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute (TBRRI) is planning a cyclotron facility to support research and the growing needs of medical isotopes for imaging and therapy.  Because this facility will be producing radioactive materials we want to provide the community with the opportunity to ask any questions they may have about the facility with regards to operations, safety or any other question they may have about the cyclotron.

To help with this we will be holding several public information sessions in the community to explain the safety measures and procedures that will be in place and to address any concerns the public may have.

Thunder Bay has shown tremendous support to the Research Institute over the last several years and we really view this as Thunder Bay’s project and we want people to be comfortable with it.

The first public information session will be held July 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre Auditorium A.  More information is also available on the TBRRI website www.tbrri.com and questions or comments can also be submitted by email at cyclotron@tbh.net.

I look forward to working with the community to address any concerns or questions they may have.

Michael Campbell,
Thunde?Bay
