LETTER: Fundraise for event centre, save Neebing community centre

Coun. Iain Angus wants the money from the sale of Municipal Golf Course to be put into more parks or improve the parks we have.

I wonder what happened to the money the city acquired after amalgamation --  the sale of Neebing parklands. There isn't even enough to have a decent ball diamond left in north Neebing now.

I really wonder what will happen to the community center after the fire department is finished with it? This was all built up by a group of volunteers who raised the funds and did the work to achieve a place for the people to gather and children to play and be safe.

In my opinion, this is something that seems to be missing from the people that want the event centre. They do not want to put their money or their work into achieving this. Their preference is to have everyone pay for their entertainment. The Thunder Bay Community Auditorium had fundraising as well as the hospital so what makes the event centre different? I realize that the people who want this will call us cane shakers, but we worked hard for what we have. I expect nothing less from the younger generation.
