In a little more than a week, voters will be asked to choose the next direction at city hall.

With 51 candidates, there are plenty of options to choose from, including six running for mayor.

Elections are held every four years.

This is your chance to have a say in how you want the city governed between now and 2018.

Please take the time to get to know your candidates and for what they stand.

Judging by the turnout at recent candidate forums, apathy might rule the day again.

Only 200 showed up for the mayor’s forum, which also included most of the at-large candidates.
Half that number showed up two nights later for the ward forum.

Voting is your democratic right. It’s what separates us from the dictatorships flourishing elsewhere in the world.

We’re running profiles of all 51 candidates on these pages, wrapping up next week with stories of those who would be mayor.
The profiles can also be found on our  website.

Get to know who’s running, and then make sure you make your voice heard on Oct. 27.

If not, be prepared to live with the decision of those who did.
