LETTER: Try being homeless

To the editor:

The more I think about this event centre the angrier I get.

Why didn’t the politicians running for the mayor's seat or any politician for that matter try being homeless for one week?
They seem to be forgetting the real issues.

I have been homeless, I have had to worry about where I am going to lay my head, get my next meal, worried about getting hurt, and in a far more dangerous place called Toronto. You want to create jobs?

Well I see so many empty warehouses and also empty land, why not put it into good use. Thunder Bay does not need anymore Band-Aid promises, we need solutions. So here is a challenge that I would like to put to all the people on council.

Be homeless for one week with no money, no help of any kind.

Maybe, just maybe, then they would understand what this city needs.

We don’t need an event centre, what in my opinion we need is more treatment programs, more affordable housing for people with no income, more doctors and another shelter.
