LETTER: Pedestrians deserve respect

To the editor: I am a pedestrian and have been in situations where my life was jepordized by aggressive drivers.

To the editor:

I am a pedestrian and have been in situations where my life was jepordized by aggressive drivers. I was struck once in an intersection on Court Street and the driver just smiled and drove away with out any concern as to whether I was hurt or not.

Thunder Bay seems to have some romance with jacked up trucks and people who think that they have more right to the streets then any pedestrian. In fact even the city makes it clear that when when it comes to money for winter maintaince the first thing to suffer is the sidewalks. It really bothers me when drivers just walk away with "I did not see him/her so it is their fault."

This whole attitude speaks loudly to the crime stats in Thunder Bay. If you can afford a big four wheel drive you must be better than any lowly walker.
