Tory MPP pens open letter to the residents of Thunder Bay

Last week I had the pleasure of travelling to Thunder Bay as part of the Select Committee on Sexual Violence and Harassment.

Last week I had the pleasure of travelling to Thunder Bay as part of the Select Committee on Sexual Violence and Harassment.

During the committee’s visit, I had the opportunity to hear from several local experts like the Sexual Assault Domestic Violence Treatment Centre, the Ontario Native Women’s Association, the Faye Peterson House, and the critical work of others in the community.

Our visit also provided us with a chance to hear firsthand from victims who bravely shared their experience navigating a complex system.

I would like to take a moment to extend my thanks on behalf of my committee colleagues to those who took the time to come and speak to us in a candid manner on these very personal and sensitive issues.  As we move forward with our work on these important issues it is vital that as many voices as possible, especially those in Northern Ontario, are included.

Again, thank you for opening your doors and having us come and listen to and speak with members of your community on these important issues.

MPP Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes – Brock
