LETTER: Foulds should resign council seat

To the editor:

I find some interesting comments made by Andrew Foulds in the article “Floor crossings old hat in riding” dated, Sept. 10, 2015.

“Foulds said he thinks voters deserve to know the politics of the people they put in office and trust they’ll remain true to their roots."

When Andrew Foulds ran for Current River Ward councillor, did he inform residents in Current River Ward, he will only remain as their representative if he doesn’t get elected as our Minister of Parliament?

Technically, didn’t he “cross the floor” so to speak, when he took a leave of absence from City Council because he found a potentially better opportunity to run Federally?  Further he states, “anyone who crosses the floor should resign and take their chances in byelection."

If he honestly believes this, if he doesn’t win, then he should resign from City Council and take his chances in a byelection.

Personally, I have no problem with a member of City Council running for other levels of public office.  What I do have a problem with, is when they don’t practice what they preach.\

Andy Wolff,
Former candidate for Current River Ward Councillor
