LETTER: Live From the Rock Folk Festival problems need to be fixed

To the editor: As someone who was deeply involved with Red Rock's Live from the Rock Folk Festival, thanks to Liz Foulds, it is very disturbing to read it could be in trouble, especially following the best-attended festival yet.

To the editor:

As someone who was deeply involved with Red Rock's Live from the Rock Folk Festival, thanks to Liz Foulds, it is very disturbing to read it could be in trouble, especially following the best-attended festival yet.

This is like cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Reading between the lines I would surmise there is a personal animosity involved which is totally ludicrous.

Having someone from council involved with festival board would ensure financial info was available to council. But the festival is an independant body and finding a chairman, who will work with everyone, is very difficult and should not be dictated by council.

This festival has put Red Rock on the map. I have worked at the festival, been part of the executive and it isn't just waving a magic wand and everything comes together. It is a lot of hard work.

It's been very gratifying to see, not only Red Rock residents, but all kinds of people locally, from Thunder Bay, the North Shore and even from Southern Ontario and Manitoba pitch in to make it the success that it is,

Please, people this bigger than one person. Solve this problem equitably before you lose the whole thing.

Sally Aubut,
Red Rock
