Thunder Bay's Brennan Wark is off to a winning start at the Canadian Junior Men's Curling Championship in Napanee, Ont.

Wark on Saturday defeated Manitoba's Kyle Doering 5-3 in the second draw of the week-long event, the foursome's only match of the day.

Wark stole his first point in the second end to go up 1-0, but was trailing 2-1through six before making his big move. Wark recorded three points in the seventh to go up 4-2 and stole another in the eighth to take a three-point lead.

Doering could only manage a single in the ninth. Wark's squad includes lead Joel Adams, second Kyle Toset and third Kristofer Leupen. Alberta's Brendan Bottcher and Quebec's Felix Asselin lead the 13-team field with 2-0 records. Two other teams are 1-0 alongside Northern Ontario.
