Stars drop third in a row

The Thunder Bay North Stars have fallen on hard times south of the border.
The Superior International Junior Hockey League team on Sunday fell 5-4 to the Iron Range Ironheads, their fifth straight loss on U.S. ice.
Benjamin Brouillard and Casey Skolnik scored two goals apiece in the decisive second period and the Ironheads hung on in a third period that saw the Stars claw back with goals by Isaac Howarth and Sam Dubinsky, only to fall a goal short.
Christopher Andre netted Iron Range's other goal, a power play marker at 8:54 of the opening period, the only marker in the first.
Mashall Fox and Michael Orosey scored 27 seconds apart in the second to tie the game 2-2. It was Thunder Bay's second loss to start a 12-game road trip that wraps up their regular season.
The third-place club dropped to 23-18-5, two points up on fourth-place Dryden. It was just the seventh loss in 45 games for the Ironheads. Marc Nother took the loss, making 24 saves, while Chris Stokke stopped 29 shots in a winning cause for Iron Range.
