Lindsay Druery isn’t ready to hang up her sneakers just yet.

The fifth-year Lakehead University basketball star is winding down her university career, but with a playoff push looming, she’s already looking to what’s next on the horizon.

It looks like it could be a trek to Europe and a crack at the professional game.

“Yeah, right now I’ve got a few contacts I’m in touch with and looking to kind of broaden my horizons and play basketball overseas next year,” said Druery, who ranks 11th in the OUA, averaging 12.9 points a game.

“We’re just in the process of making some negotiations and where I want to play and what division and we’re going to kind of go from there.”

Druery, who is ninth in rebounding and 12th in blocked shots, said the idea of playing in Europe is both exciting and amazing – but not just for the basketball.

“I think biggest part of it is the learning experience. And if you do something you love to do and get paid for it, it’s just a bonus,” said Druery, the seventh-leading scorer in school history, who on Tuesday was named her team's athlete of the month for January.

The Wolves (9-9) take on Brock this weekend and host Guelph next weekend to close out regular season play. They’re currently in a three-way tie for fourth place in the OUA West.
