The Thunder Bay North Stars needed a little late-game heroics to do so, but they stretched their winning streak to six straight on Friday night -- all on the road.

Dylan Mascarin scored the equalizer with 1:31 to go in regulation and Marshall Fox netted the winner 2:25 into overtime, earning the Stars (29-18-5) a 3-2 win over the Duluth Clydesdales (18-29-2) in a game played at the Silver Bay Ice Arena.

Hunter Scott and Reed Armstrong had staked Duluth to a 2-0 lead, Reed's goal coming 2:47 into the second period. Matthew Alexander cut the lead to one with midway through the second.

With the win the Stars clinched third place in the Superior International Junior Hockey League, opening up an eight-point cushion over fourth-place Dryden. Both teams have four games to play, but Thunder Bay has five more wins than their long-time rival.

Elsewhere, at Spooner, Wis., Steve Hughes scored an overtime power-play winner as the Wisconsin Wilderness (44-6-1) edged the Fort Frances Lakers (34-12-7) 3-2 on Friday.

Jordan Christianson scored both Lakers goals, the first coming with less than a minute to go in the opening period, the second giving Fort Frances a 2-1 lead at 4:35 of the middle stanza. Clark Anderson and Mike Dietrich scored the Wisconsin goals in regulation, both coming in the second.
