The Thunder Bay North Stars struck first on Sunday, but it was about the only positive they took away from the contest.

The Duluth Clydesdales scored five unanswered goals on home ice in the second and third period and skated away with an easy 9-3 over the slumping North Stars.

Dillon Marshon and Austin Loes collected two goals and three assists apiece to spark the one-sided victory, just their second in 28 games this season.

Bryce Maggrah, Paul Zysko and Mathias Gardiman were the North Stars scorers.

Duluth improved to 2-28-2, while the Stars dropped to 17-16-2.

Thunder Bay is off until Friday when they visit the Minnesota Iron Rangers. Their next home game is Jan. 15 at Fort William Gardens against the Dryden Ice Dogs.
