Matt Schmidt’s career night was well-timed.
The Thunder Bay forward scored 27 points on Saturday night and the Lakehead Thunderwolves erupted in the second half to turn a nail-biter into a laugher on the road in Western.
The second-place Wolves (8-5), up three at the half, out-scored the Mustangs 54-19 in the final 20 minutes and cruised to a 90-52 win to earn the weekend sweep.
Greg Carter had 14 points and Joseph Jones added 13 for LU, who kept pace with first-place Windsor (10-3) in the OUA West.
Greg Morrow led Western with 16.
