Outfielder Carter McEachern, in the midst of an outstanding sophomore season at San Antonio’s Trinity University, has agreed to return to the Cats after a 10-game stint in 2013.

The former Thunder Bay North Stars goalie is hitting .331 with one home run, two doubles and 21 driven in.

He hit .333 in 10 games with the Cats last summer.

McEachern won’t be the only Trinity player to don a Border Cats uniform in 2014. Teammate Zach Speer, a 6-foot-4 right-hander, leads the school with a 7-1 record and a 2.01 ERA as a junior. He’s also struck out 46 in 58 innings pitched.

Also returning to the Cats is OF Alex Bautista, whose batting .277 with seven dingers at Kentucky’s Lindsey Wilson College. They’ve also signed pitcher Ryan Powers from Miami of Ohio University, who is 3-3 with a 4.80 ERA.

The Cats home opener is slated for May 27 at Port Arthur Stadium.
