Tom Pyatt signs with Swiss team

Tom Pyatt is following in his older brother Taylor’s footsteps and heading overseas to continue his hockey career.

The former Tampa Bay Lightning forward inked a one-year deal with Geneve-Servette, where Taylor signed earlier this year, ending a 13-year NHL career.

The team also holds an option for 2015-16.

Pyatt had three goals and four assists last season after a broken collarbone sidelined him for much of the first half of the campaign.

In 245 career games he had 27 goals and 27 assists split between Tampa and Montreal, where he made his NHL debut in 2009-10.
Genever-Servette coach Chris McSorley said they didn’t expect the younger Pyatt to be available.

“Tom is a smart player with good speed and excellent vision of the game,” McSorley said in a release. “He is a really complete player.”
Pyatt said he’s excited for the new opportunity.

“I’m looking forward to this new experience … I will give everything I have to contribute to the success of my new colours.”
