Jeremy Kirk, fresh off winning the District Junior championship earlier this week, and Joe Scharf, winner of the most recent local major and his first Strathcona Invitational title, each fired four-under 67s Saturday at Chapples Golf Course to lead the Canadian Tire District Amateur through 18 holes.

Andrew Scavarelli is two shots back after an opening-round 69, while Brett Shewchuk and Steve Gibson scored one-under 70s to sit three shots back.

Play cotinues Sunday and Monday.
