Men's cross-country ranked fifth in CIS ahead of Roy Griak Invitational

Lakehead University's men's cross-country running team is now ranked fifth by the CIS. The ranking follows a strong performance in London last weekend.

Lakehead University's men's cross-country running team is now ranked fifth by the CIS.

The ranking follows a strong performance in London last weekend. Lakehead still has tough competition in the OUA, with Guelph (1), McMaster (3) and Windsor (4) keeping up with their strong running traditions.

The Lakehead team heads to the Roy Griak Invitational in the Twin Cities this weekend, an annual tradition hosted by the University of Minnesota,  which Lakehead has participated in for decades. The men finished fourth last year.

"The Roy Griak Invitational is one of the premier cross country meets in the USA and is always an exciting trip for us,” said coach Kip Sigsworth. “Last year our men were fourth as a team and this year we look to get on the podium."

The women's race will begin at 9 a.m., with the men's following at 11:30 a.m.
