TORONTO -- After a rough start to the season the Lakehead Thunderwolves hockey team appears to be rounding into shape.

The Thunderwolves (3-3-0) picked up their third straight victory, downing the Ryerson Rams 3-2 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre on Saturday afternoon.

After Kelin Ainsworth put Lakehead up front early, a pair of sibling connections struck for the Thunderwolves.

Rookie forward Brennan Dubchak put the Thunderwolves up 2-0 after the first period with his brother Carson drawing an assist.

Then in the second defenseman Mike Quesnele got in on the action with his brother David providing a helper.

Ryerson chipped into the Lakehead lead before the end of the frame as Robert Visca broke the shutout bid by goalie Justin McDonald.

Visca trimmed the lead even further, potting his second of the game in the third period.

That was as close as the Rams would get as McDonald stood tall, turning aside 14 pucks in the third period and 30 for the contest to pick up the win.

Lakehead hosts the defending Queen’s Cup champion Windsor Lancers next weekend.
