North Stars’ Walsh named Amyotte’s Awards and Promotions player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. –  The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars defenceman Ryan Walsh has been named the Amyotte’s Awards & Promotions Corp. player of the week for the period ending Oct. 19.

In two outings during the week that was the 18-year-old Thunder Bay native had a pair of goals, which were both game-winners, and added three assists to help the North Stars sweep the visiting Dryden GM Ice Dogs in a pair of contests, Friday and Saturday, at the Fort William Gardens.

Both of Walsh’s markers came of the power play, giving him five man advantage efforts overall, which ties him for the league lead in that category.

Walsh also currently tops all SIJHL blueliners in offensive production with 13 points on those five tallies and eight assists.

Also receiving consideration for the SIJHL player of the week were: Jason Reynolds, (F) Minnesota Iron Rangers, Sam Schultz, (D) Fort Frances Lakers, Greg Harney, (G) English River Miners and Matt Houston, (F) Dryden GM Ice Dogs.
