T-Wolves take on Queen's Gaels, RMC Paladin
Thunder Bay, Ont.-- The women's volleyball team (1-7) wraps up the pre-Christmas portion of their regular season this weekend, as they visit Kingston to play the Queen's Gaels (4-3) and the RMC Paladins (0-7). Weekend schedule follows below.
Lakehead has played against the best in the OUA in the first portion of their schedule, and has a chance this weekend to take down a 'middle of the pack' team in Queen's, and keep down the winless RMC Paladins.
"Under new head coach Mike Ling, Queen's has worked hard in his experienced system to become an efficient and consistent young group," says Lakehead coach Chris Green. "Their numbers are very much like ours except they have developed a more efficient attitude towards keeping the errors down. This discipline has resulted in some very strong wins."
The Gaels are in a class of their own in terms of service aces, meaning Lakehead serve receive will be under pressure to pass and pass well.
Breaking down Saturday's against the Paladinschallenge, Green gives respect to his opposing coach, saying, "Under new head coach Joely Christian-MacFarlane, RMC is growing. She has done a great job taking this team and teaching them to be very good at the little things as they learn to grow the game. She is one of the absolute best coaches we have in the OUA and her work is showing itself fast."
"This is a great weekend for us again. Last week on the road, there was a lot of growth on this team and we look to continue that trend. Use the weekend to tighten things up and develop a close reliance on each other."
