Kostecki scores in OT as Wolves win wild one

Despite never holding a lead in regulation, Cody Kostecki scored in overtime to seal a wild 7-6 victory for Lakehead over Queen’s at the Kingston Memorial Centre on Saturday night.

Queen’s took the lead on six different occasions but each time the Thunderwolves had an answer, never trailing by more than one goal.

Cody Alcock scored twice, including the equalizer in the final minute of regulation to force overtime. Brennan Dubchak also added a pair for Lakehead. Mike Quesnele and Keilin Ainsworth were the other goal scorers.

Darcy Greenaway scored two for Queen’s, with Brett Goy, Taylor Clements, Patrick McGillis and Kris Grant also finding the back of the net.

Justin McDonald stopped 37 shots in the Lakehead net to pick up the win while Kevin Baillie, who came on in relief duty, was saddled with the loss for the Golden Gaels.

Lakehead (5-8-2) concludes the pre-holiday portion of their schedule next weekend at home against the Western Mustangs (10-3-0).
